Diarmid MACKENZIE SMITH

Diarmid qualified as a residential Chartered Surveyor over 30 years ago. Since then, he has worked
exclusively in the Scottish Housing sector – most of this time running a large residential letting agency
in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The portfolio had over 1300 properties under management. There are
therefore few scenarios in property management that Diarmid has yet to encounter!  

More recently Diarmid made a conscious decision to move away from the “letting” sector and focus
his attention on helping private homeowners and their families manage their own homes. Identifying
a need in the market and concentrating on his key skills in property management and maintenance,
Diarmid set up Vesta Home Care.  

Vesta’s customer base includes older members of the community now struggling to manage property
affairs at home, as well as busy families or absentee (overseas) owners who are looking for help to
manage their homes.  

The services Diarmid offers are flexible and tailored to suit individual family needs. It could be a one-
off inspection or a regular check for safety and security. Or it could be a full management service. In
addition, Diarmid can offer advice on Home Efficiency and Water hygiene/Legionella Risk
Assessments. Diarmid is passionate about a personal and flexible service for homeowners and their
families.    

Why ECF  

I was made aware of the good work offered by ECF and have seen the professional work of the
membership. The services I offer overlap with many of its other core offerings and appeal to those in
the community who are at a stage in life where a little helping hand can make a big difference.
Whether the asset known as home is lived in, let out or being sold - it must always be maintained.  

On a personal note... 

When not deep in the property world Diarmid spends as much time as he can with his 10 year olds
twins Tom & Millie or is out and about on the farm in Perthshire where he was brought up.
