Although a Chartered Banker by profession, Laura had been managing her own portfolio of rental properties for over a decade when she decided to leave the corporate world and set up her own client focused business. 

Chapmans was set up following an approach from a lady in her senior years who was moving out of her family home and into a residential care home. During the process Laura recognised the huge upheaval her client went through in moving from the family home. It became very clear that clients at this stage of life or with capacity issues, are incredibly vulnerable. Both they and their families need care, advice and a service that is professional but sensitive to their particular needs. 

Chapmans offer a range of flexible services to suit every need…from a Full Management to Let Only service and a Marketing Only to their Investment Analysis/Property Find service.

Laura is particularly pleased to be involved with the Edinburgh Care Forum. The joint expertise within the forum helps keep Laura up-to-date with the current care system and the whole experience of the transition into care. This enables her to improve the service she offers to any of her older clients or those who have capacity issues. 

Renting out the family home doesn’t work for all situations and sometimes just a rental appraisal is required to rule it out as a viable option. However, in the right circumstances it can offer valuable rental income, peace of mind knowing the property is lived in and looked after, as well as providing much needed breathing space while the family decide what to do next.

When not immersing herself in the world of lettings, Laura loves spending time with her daughter Lily and 3 energetic boys - son Harry, dog Wiggy and husband Tim.
